Friendship
The most beautiful discovery true friends make is that they can grow separately without growing apart.

Dreams
If life is a book we write, it should be a book of dreams. And even if they don’t all come true, at least the story will still be amazing.

A rather long one
So you want to be a writer?
by Charles Bukowski
If it doesn’t come bursting out of you
in spite of everything,
don’t do it.
Unless it comes unasked out of your
heart and your mind and your mouth
and your gut,
don’t do it.
If you have to sit for hours
staring at your computer screen
or hunched over your
typewriter
searching for words,
don’t do it.
If you’re doing it for money or
fame,
don’t do it.
If you’re doing it because you want
women in your bed,
don’t do it.
If you have to sit there and
rewrite it again and again,
don’t do it.
If it’s hard work just thinking about doing it,
don’t do it.
If you’re trying to write like somebody
else,
forget about it.
If you have to wait for it to roar out of
you,
then wait patiently.
If it never does roar out of you,
do something else.
If you first have to read it to your wife
or your girlfriend or your boyfriend
or your parents or to anybody at all,
you’re not ready.
Don’t be like so many writers,
don’t be like so many thousands of
people who call themselves writers,
don’t be dull and boring and
pretentious, don’t be consumed with self-
love.
The libraries of the world have
yawned themselves to
sleep
over your kind.
don’t add to that.
Don’t do it.
unless it comes out of
your soul like a rocket,
unless being still would
drive you to madness or
suicide or murder,
don’t do it.
Unless the sun inside you is
burning your gut,
don’t do it.
When it is truly time,
and if you have been chosen,
it will do it by
itself and it will keep on doing it
until you die or it dies in you.
There is no other way.
And there never was.

Time
Half our life is spent trying to find something to do with the time we have rushed through life trying to save.

Something to think about
Brick walls are there for a reason; they let us prove how badly we want things.
(Randy Pausch, The Last Lecture)
Randy Pausch is what I’d like too call “one of the inspirational people”. I came upon the video below while trying to find out more about the author of the quote and this next video is worth sharing.

Emotions
“Don’t bother trying to explain your emotions. Live everything as intensely as you can and keep whatever you felt as a gift from God. If you think that you won’t be able to understand a world in which living is more important than understanding, then give up magic now. The best way to destroy the bridge between the visible and invisible is by trying to explain your emotions.”
Paulo Coelho (Brida)

Unexpected
There is no big secret that I love to read. In fact, the greatest torture for me is to be stuck somewhere (a doctor’s office, a bus stop, you name it) without any reading material. Sometimes I’ll even settle for a Thai magazine if there’s nothing else around.
Last Wednesday was one such case. I had just finished the last page of Letters from Thailand (review coming soon, I hope) and looked around for some new reading material, when I happened to see a Thai fashion magazine. So I started leafing through it. No, I can’t read the language but I can look at the pictures. Then I saw this:
“Alone with myself
The trees bend to caress me
The shade hugs my heart.”
(Candy Polgar)
