One Lovely Blog Award

lovely When Jade from scatterbooker nominated me for One Lovely Blog Award, I was quite surprised. Thank you, Jade!
As an award nominee (doesn’t this sound important!), there are a few simple rules to follow:

– Thank the person who nominated you for the award.
– Add the One Lovely Blog logo to your post.
– Share 7 facts/or things about yourself.
– Nominate 15 bloggers you admire and inform nominees by commenting on their blog.

7 facts or things about myself:

1. I love coffee but if I have it in the afternoon, chances are I’m going to be up until very late. Like right now when I’m writing this and it’s nearly 1 a.m..
2. I have a mango tree in the little green space I call “garden”. And since it’s the mango season, I’ve been eating mangoes for nearly a month. It is possible you can have too much chocolate (sadly) but you can never have too many mangoes (fortunately).
3. I love all animals, even when I find a snake wrapped around the electric cables. Luckily they don’t wait around, though I did manage to get a picture once or twice.

snake 4. I enjoy spending time on my own, just going to the bookstore or watching a movie, or simply staying at home and reading. But I also like to socialize occasionally. Finding the perfect balance is the key to my sanity.
5. I love wooden carvings.
6. I love traveling by train. I used to do that a lot when I was younger, not so much now.
7. I’ve recently started making notebooks. I made one for a friend as a gift and I hope to make more this year.

    You’re welcome Delia! xx
I love coffee and I’m so jealous that you have a mango tree. Yum!

  2. Vishy says:

Congratulations on winning the One Lovely Blog award, Delia! Thanks a lot for nominating me 🙂 Congratulations to the other nominees too. It is nice to see some old favourite names there. I enjoyed reading the seven facts about yourself, especially the coffee and the mango parts. It is interesting that you sometimes find snakes wrapped around electric cables. It is scary to think about, but it does look beautiful in the picture. It makes me remember that snake which is taking a nap enjoying the sunlight in Barbara Kingsolver’s ‘Prodigal Summer’ 🙂 That notebook looks so beautiful. Hope you have fun making more notebooks this year.

    • Delia says:

      Thanks Vishy,
I hope you decide to give it a go but if you don’t it’s OK. No pressure.
It was hard to choose the nominees because I know so many great blogs, but in the end I decided to pick those that would be more likely to participate.

I remember Kingsolver’s book, beautiful story. Wasn’t that snake in the roof, trying to eat the baby birds? So far I’m grateful they stay outside. I don’t know what I would do to find one like that in the house.

  3. Caroline says:

Congratulations and thanks a lot for nominating me.
I don’t always participate, often for the simple reason that those I would nominate – and there are a few on your list – have already been nominated.
    I enjoyed reading your list.
I love mangoes. I ate one yesterday. isn’t that funny. I ate about one a year and they hardly ever taste nice. The one yesterday was amazing though.
Cute little snake. I love all the animals as well. And that notebook is really nice.

    • Delia says:

You’re very welcome. We have quite a few friends in common I think so I’m not surprised.
That is funny about the mango. I had one back home in Europe. Definitely not the same as the ones here but then there are so many kinds, just like apples.
I like that snake too, and wish I could touch it but I don’t think it would like that.
      Thanks for the nice words.

  4. Brian Joseph says:

Congratulations Delia! The award is very much deserved.

Thank you so much for recognizing my blog. It really is appreciated.

I am familiar with some of the blogs that you have listed but not all of them. I will be exploring those whom I do not know.

I share your love of coffee.

    • Delia says:

You deserve it just as much, Brian. I always enjoy visiting and reading your blog.
I hope you find some interesting blogs on that list.
Coffee is wonderful, isn’t it? Especially with milk….

  5. M-----l says:

    Thank you, thank you!

Regarding mangoes, I once went to an Indian restaurant in Chicago that had the sweetest and juiciest mangoes I’d ever tasted before (or since). The mangoes were included in the lunch buffet so I ate as many as I could. I probably ate the equivalent of four or five mangoes that day.

Needless to say, I totally gave myself a stomach ache. Too many mangoes is a thing!

    Mmmm…mangoes.

    • Delia says:

      You’re very welcome, M.
Well, OK, perhaps not too many mangoes at the same time. 🙂 I can easily eat 4 or 5 in a day with no problem, though I don’t do that every day. Besides, it also depends on how big they are.
Looks like mangoes are a big favorite among my guests here. 🙂

  6. Carole says:

Congrats! Thanks so much for nominating me. I decided last year that I wouldn’t participate anymore due to time constraints, but I appreciate your kindness so much.

  7. Deb Atwood says:

Thank you so much for nominating me! I’m excited to be part of the process. I see you’ve already been nominated; otherwise, I would have chosen you!

Your facts are so fun to read. The snake photo is beautiful. Good thing the cable is insulated. Train travel is the most civilized (and most fun) mode of transportation–I’m with you there. And, oh yes, one must have milk with one’s coffee…or is it coffee with one’s milk?

  8. Thanks, Delia! I appreciate the nomination. I love the picture of the snake, too. This summer, we saw a rattlesnake in the yard. I didn’t even know we had them in the northeastern US. (And I bought a good batch of mangoes last week. I often make mango bread out of them.)

    • Delia says:

      Hi TJ.
      You’re welcome.
A rattlesnake? I’ve never seen one up close. We had cobras in the garden a few years ago. Good thing I have dogs, well, good thing for us, bad for the poor snakes.
Mango bread! How didn’t I think of that? I’ve never had it before, I’m going to google some recipes, thanks for the tip.

  9. Bellezza says:

We have much in common, you and I, from our book blogging to making notebooks, traveling by train (much the easiest way for me to go to Chicago) to enjoying time by oneself. I’m afraid that’s probably a double edged sword in my case, as I tend to be too introverted. 😉

In a time when I question my blog and its purpose, I so appreciate your thinking of me for this award. As Caroline said above, so many blogs you enjoy would also be in my own list. Perhaps I can find a few more and thereby participate, but know how much I appreciate you nominating me. xo

    • Delia says:

      Hi Bellezza,
I didn’t know we had such similar interests. That is a nice surprise! Did you post pics of your notebooks on your blog? I’d love to see them.

Your blog is wonderful, do not doubt anything about it. Even if I don’t come by very often, I still like it very much.
I look forward to reading your post if you decide to participate.

  10. TBM says:

I love all animals as well. Snakes can scare me. I used to live in a house where they would come in. Once when I was standing in front of the bathroom sink washing my face one slithered over my bare feet. Luckily it was harmless. I find them beautiful and fascinating.

Congrats on winning and thanks so much for thinking of my blog. It’s an honour.

    • Delia says:

That must have been scary. It’s good that it was harmless. We found one in the kitchen once. I was out the door and up the stairs in three seconds flat.
Thanks TBM, I enjoy coming over to your blog. Looking forward to more photos.

  11. Athira says:

Thank you so much for nominating my blog! Your blog definitely deserves the award.

  12. Delia says:

You’re very welcome, Athira, and thank you for the nice words.
I enjoy coming over to your blog for a visit. Sunday Salon is my favorite post. 🙂
That snake was beautiful, I must have looked at it for quite some time. From a safe distance, of course.

  13. Priya says:

Hey Delia, thanks for the nomination. Your post makes me want to eat mangoes. I feel like I’ve already said how much I love the idea of making notebooks, I’d like to give it a try: the picture you’ve posted is too pretty. I like to cuddle up with a book and coffee. It’s true what you said about having it in the afternoon, but then I always have coffee when I particularly want to stay up all night reading! I love the photo of the snake too, it’s creepy in a cool sort of way…

    • Delia says:

      Hi Priya,
Coffee and books go together rather well, don’t they? Or tea…
I don’t think I’ve ever stayed up all night reading a book but I have been known to wake up at odd hours and read until sleep comes back.
Thanks for the nice words – I do enjoy visiting your blog. Maybe I should bring mangoes next time. If only I could! 🙂
