Dickens in December – The End

Dickens button 02 December felt like a really short month. For this event, I had planned to read some short stories, watch a movie or two, do “A Christmas Carol” read-along and read a novel. Well, you can scrap that last part.
What I did manage to do is watch two movies, The Life and Adventures of Nicholas Nickleby (2001) and The Old Curiosity Shop (2007), read three short stories and participate in the readalong.
I was excited to see how many people joined Caroline and I for this event and I enjoyed reading their contributions. There are so many wonderful blogs out there!

A big thank you to Caroline, for helping make this event a reality.
If you’d like to see a list of all participants, it’s here.

For those of you who plan on reading another Dickens novel soon, Fanda is hosting Celebrating Dickens in February, an event which I will be joining and finally read that novel (fingers crossed!).

To everyone who has contributed to “Dickens in December”, thank you for your time, reviews and comments, and hope to have you along for similar events. Until then I wish you a great New Year, and may all your wishes (or at least most of them) come true!

This was a great event. Like you said, December is a much shorter month than you realise and the time just flew by. On this occasion I only put myself down for two books and so I managed to complete my goal. Maybe that’s the way forward – smaller challenges ! Lol.
Thanks for hosting this with Caroline. I really enjoyed revisiting Dickens.
    Lynn 😀

You’re right, smaller challenges are the way, and if I manage to surpass them, that’s great.
Thanks for participating Lynn, it was great having you with us. Still is. 🙂

    Thanks for organizing.

This was a terrific event! Amazing how so many bloggers participated!

You’re welcome, Brian. Given that December is a really busy month, I was pleasantly surprised to see how many people joined the event.
      Thanks for your contribution!

Thanks for hosting ‘Dickens in December’, Delia! I really loved participating in it, though I could read only one novel and participate in one readalong. I missed out on watching a movie. Hope to do that next year. Hope you have a wonderful New Year too! May all your dreams come true!

It was a lot of fun! Happy New Year and I wish you the best in 2013.

Thanks very much to you & to Caroline for organizing this: it’s been most enjoyable.

  7. Hi Delia

Thanks for organising this with Caroline! December was a really busy month for me as I was moving back from Barbados to London and had some other things to take care of as well, so I hardly read anything and didn’t blog either. Otherwise I would definitely have participated. So many good Dickens novels I haven’t read yet, or would like to reread. Do you think you’ll do it again?

    • Delia says:

Hi Andrew and welcome back to the blogging world!
I thought you were going to London just for the holidays, but moving back, that’s another matter.
I would like to do this event again in December, together with Caroline, but that’s a long way off so I’m not sure now. I’ll let you know.
